Our Jiu-Jitsu 101 Class is one of our academies most important classes on the schedule.
In countless studies nearly 90% of documented altercations, assaults, attacks, and other types of fights, have resulted in combat ending and being finished on the ground. This means, regardless of the training backgrounds of these individuals, that altercations more often than not end up on the ground.
As the great Machado Brothers have said: "The ground is my ocean. I am the shark, and most men do not even know how to swim."
This simply means that the majority of individuals lack tactics on defending themselves from the ground. The art of jiujitsu gives us all that advantage, based on leverage and technique over size and strength. The ability to immobilize an attacker utilizing the ground and ultimately submitting them.
Our jiujitsu 101 curriculum focuses on developing solid self-defense based fundamentals of jiujitsu. Students will learn all ranges of the art including but not limited to takedowns, guard passing, positional control and defense, sweeping and leg lock and leg control tactics, as well as detailed oriented submission finishing skills.
